Is anyone responsible for a bridge collapse?
Many of you aren’t old enough to remember the collapse of the Silver Bridge in December of 1967.
The Silver Bridge was an eyebar-chain suspension bridge that spanned the Ohio River and connected Point Pleasant, West Virginia, with Gallipolis, Ohio. If you have heard of the event, it may be because local lore linked the tragedy to sightings of the “Mothman.” Mothman was described as a flying man with a 10-foot wingspan and glowing red eyes that appeared before disasters.
Whether you believe in the creature or not, the collapse of the Silver Bridge was a real disaster. It took 46 lives, and the tragedy still haunts the memories of residents in the area.
ATVs – fun, but don’t let your ride become deadly!
All-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and utility task vehicles (UTVs or side-by-sides) are useful tools for working outdoors. They’re great for hauling medium loads and doing other tasks like plowing snow. That’s why they’re commonly used in agriculture, construction, and landscaping.
ATVs can also be a lot of fun when used for off-roading, trail riding, racing, and hunting.
Segways: can they hurt you?
If you’ve been in the downtown or historical districts of any major Virginia city, you’ve seen them. You know, those seemingly gravity-defying, self-balancing scooters called Segways. You ride a Segway standing up, and control it by leaning forward to go forward, and leaning back to stop. It really is an ingenious piece of technology.
Segway tours have popped up all around the country, including Virginia. There are currently Segway tours operating in Fredericksburg, Leesburg, Norfolk, Richmond, Virginia Beach, Yorktown, and of course, Washington, D.C. These tours are a good way to see part of an area because they allow you to cover more ground than you could on foot.
The Segway’s top speed is 12.5 miles, and it was deemed “safe” for operation in urban pedestrian areas when invented in 2001. So why were there two recalls? And why do some “gliders” (as riders are called) end up in the hospital?

It takes a community to build a law firm
Suppose you want to go to a restaurant for a night out. How do you decide which one?
You ask your friends! If this were a Geico commercial, we’d chime in “It’s what you do!”
The same thing is true when you need a lawyer. Talk to your friends and neighbors, and they’ll let you know who’s best. Like a great restaurant owner, a great lawyer is hard-working, caring and friendly, and knows the community and people around him. He also knows the law!
What money can be awarded in a personal injury case?
Compensatory damages (money) awarded to a plaintiff (the injured person) in a personal injury case are intended to help make up for the losses the injured suffered in the accident. Some damages are fairly simple to quantify; others are more subjective.

5 good reasons to file a personal injury claim
Have you ever been hurt in a wreck, and wondered if you should file a personal injury claim?
While some people think that filing a personal injury claim is like trying to win the lottery, here’s the real story: If you or a loved one is seriously hurt (or killed) in an accident, a personal injury claim may be the only path for you and your family to stay afloat during extraordinarily difficult circumstances.
If a dog bites me, what do I need to know?
Approximately 4.5 million people are bitten by dogs each year, and more than 800,000 of those require medical attention, according to the CDC. Unfortunately, young children are often the victims of dog bites, with injuries to their head and face. Gloucester and Mathews, Virginia, residents have had several injuries from dogs recently, according to the Gazette-Journal.
