Established in 1691, King and Queen County, Virginia, has seen its share of history over the centuries – starting as an early English settlement, becoming part of an English Colony, and later helping establish the new republic of America.
In more recent history, King and Queen just got its first traffic light (at St. Stephen’s Church) a few years ago!
The Richmond-Tappahannock Highway is the main road crossing the county, drawing commuters from the Northern Neck and above into the Richmond area. Thousands of vehicles speed down this highway every day, and it is a common place for wrecks, especially at the Newton Road on-ramp. State Routes 14 and 33 see even more traffic through West Point, and on toward George Washington Memorial Highway.
King and Queen County is nestled within Virginia’s Middle Peninsula, and is home to approximately 7,000 people. Did you know King and Queen had a bigger population in the 1790 census than it did in the 2010 census?
Over the past three-plus centuries, the county has accumulated its share of historical sites as well, including the Battle of Walkerton Civil War battlefield. Other historic sites of note include centuries-old churches, Courthouse Tavern Museum, Locust Grove Farm (built in 1665), and Mattaponi Indian Reservation.
But small towns – even our historic Virginia ones – aren’t the safe havens they used to be.
While King and Queen is rural, quaint, and a great place to have a family, it is not immune to the dangers found in urban areas. Injuries can and do happen whenever human negligence comes into play.
We at GibsonSingleton Virginia Injury Attorneys work hard to promote safe behaviors on the Middle Peninsula, even going into high schools to speak to students about the importance of making good choices and driving safely. During our “Texts=Wrecks” campaign, we worked to decrease the number of distracted driving accidents in our area. We believe it’s always better to prevent an accident than to try to recover from one.
Still, when things go wrong, we consider it our calling to help those who have been hurt through the actions of others. We have handled many cases for clients in this area, ranging from dog bites to truck and car wrecks.
A serious injury carries more than just medical bills. Ken Gibson and John Singleton found that out firsthand after they were in car crashes themselves.
We’ve experienced the pain, the panic, the anxiety, the inconvenience, AND the hospital bills. We lived the days, weeks, even months of missed work, and the financial hardships that can result. We understand the long-term emotional effects that no one sees coming.
Now, John and Ken help people navigate through the same trauma. As former U.S. Marines, John and Ken are deeply connected to the military families throughout King and Queen County, just across the river from West Point. No matter how you were injured, we want to serve you. And we know how to do it well.
After their military careers, Ken served as a state and federal prosecutor, going to trial in hundreds of cases. John, meanwhile, handled litigation for big insurance companies, seeing exactly how these nationwide insurers minimize payouts, if given the chance.
GibsonSingleton Virginia Injury Attorneys goes the extra mile to research and gather evidence for client claims. We work with local claims adjusters, many of whom we know well. And we don’t hesitate to go to trial when our clients and we believe it’s in their best interests.

When Insurance Companies Won't Listen, These Lawyers Make Them
I was rear-ended by someone who didn’t see me slowing for traffic in front of her because she had a dog in her car and she was handling her dog instead of watching the road. She was cited and pre-paid her ticket (was undeniably at-fault for the accident). I was slammed so hard my car was slammed into the car in….
