Meet our 2020 “Texts=Wrecks” Scholarship finalists!

By Beth Gibson on May 28, 2020

We at GibsonSingleton Virginia Injury Attorneys have been busily reading the many (and often fabulous!) essays you sent to us for our 2020 “Texts=Wrecks” Scholarship. It’s been inspiring to see how many young people care about driving safely – and helping others stay safer too.

We received an incredible number of applications! Thank you to everyone who sent us an essay. After reading all of your wonderful ideas, we know that our streets are in good hands.

Our deadline of May 13 has passed, so we can’t accept any more applications. But you can always try again next year, as high school seniors and current college students are eligible.

The Back Story

We started this scholarship because we have seen firsthand how devastating car accidents can be. Many of our clients were injured because someone else chose to drive while being distracted by his or her phone.

We also know that this next generation is an amazing one, and the youth of today will become the leaders of tomorrow. That’s why we decided to ask you all to help us come up with ideas to help others drive safely.

Our Finalists

You delivered some brilliant ideas! Your essays were thoughtful and passionate. We can tell that you truly care about making America’s roads safe, just like we do at GibsonSingleton Virginia Injury Attorneys.

It was difficult to narrow the applications down, because so many blew us away. But we would now like to congratulate those who made it to the final round of the 2020 “Text=Wrecks” Scholarship. Out of all the applications we received, yours proved to be the most contemplative and creative.

  • Michael H. – Americus, GA
  • Jin Y. – Lubbock, TX
  • Dharma P. – Haddam Neck, CT
  • Lauren C. – Core, WV
  • Jennifer H. – Harvest, AL

What’s next?

We now have the difficult task of selecting just one of you to win our $1,000 scholarship. That winner will be announced on June 11, 2020. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and check our blog for updates.

Thank you again to everyone who sent an essay. While we could not choose everyone, we are still so impressed with the work you sent. We hope you continue to care so passionately about the safety of yourself, your friends and family, and everyone on the road!
