Congratulations to our 2023 “Texts=Wrecks” scholarship winner!

By Beth Gibson on June 6, 2023

At GibsonSingleton Virginia Injury Attorneys, we have been awarding our annual $1,000 “Text=Wrecks” scholarship to an outstanding college-bound student every year since 2018. We love recognizing aspiring scholars while also emphasizing the need to stop texting while driving.

We spent a lot of time reading this year’s essays. Our entrants deserve so much credit for their valuable suggestions about preventing texting while driving and also for their work to make our Virginia communities safer for everyone.

It wasn’t easy selecting five finalists from the hundreds of exceptional submissions we received. And it was even harder to choose this year’s winner, Madison G. from Providence Forge, VA.

In her essay, Madison explains how she and a classmate created a YouTube video highlighting the dangers of texting while driving for a high school media class. The video was so effective that it won first place at the Virginian High School League 2022 Film Festival.

GibsonSingleton Virginia Injury Attorneys would like to thank everyone who applied for our 2023 “Texts=Wrecks” scholarship. We encourage eligible students to apply again next year – this includes everyone enrolled in a college or university.

And please stay tuned to our blog and our Facebook page to learn about more safety tips, news, and other opportunities!
