Congratulations to Our 2021 “Texts=Wrecks” Winner!

GibsonSingleton Virginia Injury Attorneys is devoted to serving our neighbors who have been injured in serious car accidents. But, if we had it our way, no one would ever be injured due to someone else’s negligence. Driving under the influence, speeding, texting – there is no excuse for these actions, especially if it puts someone else in danger.

Since launching our “Texts=Wrecks” Scholarship back in March, we have gotten the opportunity to read how today’s students are working to prevent future car accidents and keep everyone safer on the road. After narrowing down our finalists last month, we had the tough task of choosing a winner. We read and re-read every essay, debated among our team, and finally selected one student to win a $1,000 scholarship!

Today, we are honored to announce our 2021 “Texts=Wrecks” Scholarship winner. Congratulations to:

  • Chandler P. from Spartanburg, SC

Chandler’s story of how distracted driving has personally affected his life touched our hearts. No one should have to lose a parent due to someone else’s negligence, but Chandler used his grief to motivate himself to learn more about distracted driving and teach others about its dangers. We are proud of Chandler’s devotion to safe driving, and we know his father would be proud of him as well. We encourage you all to read Chandler’s essay here to see how his story touched us.

We also wanted to shout out Murphy D. for his in-depth essay about the dangers of drinking and driving and the importance of learning about alcohol addiction. We were captivated as we read about his first-hand account of preventing a drunk driving accident, how he has counseled others about alcoholism, and created safety campaigns at his school. We are highlighting Murphy’s essay as an Honorable Mention, and we encourage you to read it on our winners’ page.

To everyone who applied, thank you! You all showed real determination by applying to our “Texts=Wrecks” Scholarship, and we were inspired while reading how each of you have worked to become safer, smarter adults. We encourage you to apply next year if you are still a student. For more information about our scholarship opportunities, make sure to follow our Facebook page.

We believe you all will continue to make safe, smart decisions as you head off to college.
