Your frequently asked questions about wrecks and how lawyers can help – answered!

By Ken Gibson on May 26, 2016

Summer is a time to think about road safety — because Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day are when many serious wrecks happen in Virginia. Today, we answer your most frequently asked questions about meeting with a Virginia personal injury lawyer if you’re ever in a wreck.

If I’m in a wreck, what will hiring you as my lawyer cost?
Our firm does not charge any fee to meet with us to discuss your personal injury case, and we do not require that you pay us any fee to represent you. Our firm is paid out of any settlement that we negotiate with the insurance company, or verdict won at trial. If we file a lawsuit in court on your behalf, we pay litigation costs up front and are reimbursed for those costs when your case is resolved by settlement or at trial.

Will I have to miss work in order to meet with you?
No. We understand that it’s often difficult for folks to take off time from work to meet with us. If you request it, our firm will schedule appointments after regular business hours to accommodate your work schedule. In cases where an injured person is unable to come to our office to meet because of the severity of the injuries, we also will come to your home or the hospital to discuss your case.

What’s the first step I should take?
The first step is to meet with our lawyers to discuss your case in detail. We gather facts about the accident, your medical treatment, property damage, insurance coverage, witness information, and any other important information. This helps us evaluate your case and advise you. This meeting is a time for us to explain the process of handling a personal injury case from start to finish, and to answer all your questions about your case.
