Want to give back this season? Three fun ways to help others around Gloucester
During this season, consider creating a lasting memory by helping those in need. Here’s a roundup of enjoyable ways to provide hands-on service in our area.
- Donate to GibsonSingleton’s Fall Coat Drive.Bring used or new coats by our office from October through December. All who donate a coat receive a free car charger for cell phones and other electronics. You can also register to win prizes. For more information, contact Beth Gibson, or call (804) 413-6777.
- Call a nearby assisted living facility (Gloucester House, Walter Reed Convalescent, Sanders, just to name a few) to ask what items the residents like and need. Buy the items, and assemble in colored bags. Spend an evening delivering the bags as a family. Children may also enjoy singing songs for the residents.
- Ask at a local church for the name of a family who would appreciate receiving a Thanksgiving food basket. Work together to assemble and deliver it. Or you could contact Abingdon Episcopal Church, (804) 693-3035, about serving in their annual Thanksgiving feast for those in need at their location, 4645 George Washington Hwy.
