Give to our annual Fall Coat Drive

By Ken Gibson on October 3, 2017

Our annual Fall Coat Drive starts now and goes through Dec. 22. We invite you to drop off new or used coats from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, at our office in Hayes, Virginia.

We are once again working with the Salvation Army, the Gloucester United for Emergency Shelter Team (GUEST), and the Hampton Veterans Administration Medical Center to distribute every single coat donated to people in need in our community.

If you donate a coat, you’ll receive a free car phone charger, ice scraper, or Christmas ornament as our way of thanking you. You can also register for drawings to win a road safety kit or a CD from The Ballast Band. Drawings will be held throughout the drive.

We at GibsonSingleton Virginia Injury Attorneys are still talking about last year’s coat drive and how appreciative the coat recipients were, particularly the veterans at the Hampton VA. As my partner John Singleton said, “You would have thought we had given them gold.”

GibsonSingleton Virginia Injury Attorneys partner John Singleton looks on as Brian Kirschbaum, owner of Village Cleaners, donates a coat to partner Ken Gibson.

Winter is difficult for people without the means to buy coats, especially families with children. We have been so impressed by our community’s generous giving for the last few years. Last year, we were able to give coats to 504 men, women, and children in our area who needed them.

Whether you have a closet full of coats you no longer wear, one child’s coat that’s been outgrown, or you feel led to go buy some new coats for babies and children, we encourage you to donate this year.

We have set a goal of collecting 500 coats again this year. We believe that the amazing people of the Middle Peninsula will answer the call once again! Please print our 2017 coat drive flyer, and display it in your home or business to remind yourself and others to donate a coat between now and Christmas!
