180 coats down; 320 to go!
Children’s coats are needed most of all!
Since the beginning of October, we’ve been collecting donations for our annual Fall Coat Drive. The Eastern Virginia community has answered our call, generously donating 180 coats to date! We want to THANK YOU all so much, and at the same time let you know that the Salvation Army REALLY needs more children’s coats. If you’re planning to donate, you can’t go wrong with a child’s coat! Please, bring your new and used coats to our office in Hayes. We’re open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
We’ve had our youngest donor so far, and every coat, sweater, windbreaker, overcoat, raincoat, and jacket that has been donated has gone to someone who needs it very much. This year, we’re partnering with the Salvation Army, the Gloucester United for Emergency Shelter Team (GUEST), and the Hampton Veterans Administration Medical Center to distribute the goods.
Last year, we received 504 coats that went to men, women, and children in need in our community. Let’s set a new record, Middle Peninsula!
The drive will end on December 22, so hurry on down to our office in Hayes, Virginia. Donors receive a free car phone charger, ice scraper, or Christmas ornament as our way of thanking you. You can also register for drawings to win a road safety kit or a CD from The Ballast Band.
Please download this flyer and display it to share the word: we need coats, especially children’s coats! We thank you for your generosity and wish you a very happy Veterans Day!
