The NTSB is investigating a major Virginia truck accident in Yorktown: Here’s what you need to know
A tragic collision along Interstate 64 in York County is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). The NTSB mainly investigates airline crashes, but sometimes will investigate accidents involving other types of transportation.
An NTSB investigation of a non-airline crash generally occurs when there were unusual circumstances or when the crash has implications for transportation policy.
Yes, tractors and farming vehicles have the right away in Virginia. How can you stay safe on the road with them?
Virginia has changed a lot over the last 20 years. Our population has grown by more than 1.5 million, and our economy continues to diversify and expand. But agriculture is still the largest industry in the Commonwealth. What does that mean for drivers?
More people means more traffic, and more traffic increases the chances of cars coming into contact with farming equipment on Virginia roads, especially in rural areas.
Should I share my dashcam footage after an accident in Virginia?
Security cameras are becoming more prevalent in our world today. Many businesses have cameras that record what’s happening in and around their premises 24/7, while video surveillance systems do the same at many homes.
Some may find it alarming that our daily activities are constantly being recorded, but security cameras can offer some benefits. Bad actors are less likely to commit a crime when they know they’re being watched.
Make sure you have these important phone numbers at your fingertips
When you have a question, you want to have the right phone numbers easily available. That’s why we at GibsonSingleton sent magnets listing local public service numbers to our neighbors in Gloucester, Mathews, and Middlesex counties.
These magnets contain non-emergency numbers for the local sheriff’s office, fire and rescue, Virginia State Police, Animal Control, the Virginia Department of Transportation, as well as Parks & Recreation, your local library, and Traffic/Bridge information.
If you didn’t receive your magnet, give us a call at (804) 413-6777 or just stop by our office to pick one up – we’re located at 4073 George Washington Memorial Highway, Hayes, VA. You can also print one out below.

GibsonSingleton donates new uniforms to Gloucester High School basketball teams
Gloucester, Va. – GibsonSingleton Virginia Injury Attorneys recently donated new practice uniforms totaling $1,500 for the Gloucester High School boys’ junior varsity and varsity basketball teams.
“The Gloucester community has been good to us, and we wanted to support our hometown teams with this gift,” said partner Ken Gibson. “We saw a need – where our teams didn’t have something that most other teams in our area do have. So, we wanted to be good neighbors and help them out.”
Keep safe in parking lots this winter
Winter in Virginia is beautiful, and many people are out visiting friends and family, or just running errands. But unfortunately, winter is a time when parking lot accidents increase.
Weather conditions and extra traffic create hazards that lead to more falls, car crashes, and pedestrian accidents overall. Several factors make parking lots more dangerous in particular. Bad weather conditions reduce visibility, and snow, rain, and ice make it harder for cars to stop quickly. Drivers may be intoxicated from attending winter parties or after meeting friends in restaurants or bars. Driving safely also becomes more difficult when drivers have a car full of people.
What do tractor trailers have to do to keep you safe?
A tractor trailer weighs up to 40 tons. Even under the best circumstances, the combination of a tractor and trailer take a lot longer to stop than a car. Aircraft carriers don’t stop on a dime either. And because trucks have so much mass, collisions with cars and motorcycles are likely to cause severe injuries.
Attention, motorcyclists: Here’s how to stay safer this winter
Enjoying a nice motorcycle ride in the fresh Virginia winter air is exhilarating. But colder weather, dangerous road conditions, and reduced visibility create greater challenges for motorcycle riders.
Taking a few precautions will help you stay safer and warmer while riding your bike in the cold. Remember to do your winter maintenance, wear the right clothes and gear, change your driving habits during the winter months, and take steps to avoid hypothermia.
