It’s time to give through our fifth annual Fall Coat Drive!

By Beth Gibson on October 1, 2019

Our fifth annual Fall Coat Drive has started, and will last through December 20, 2019! We invite you to drop off new or used coats from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at our office on 4073 George Washington Memorial Highway, Hayes.

We are again working with the Salvation Army in Gloucester, the Gloucester United for Emergency Shelter Team (GUEST), the Hampton Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and other local organizations to distribute the coats to people in need in our community.

Everyone who donates a coat will receive a free ice scraper. You can also register for drawings to win a road safety kit and other prizes. Groups are encouraged to contribute as well.

Partner John Singleton said, “If you are looking for a simple way to help a neighbor this year, give a new or used coat. It is heartwarming to see the reactions of those who receive these coats.”

“Winter is difficult for people unable to afford coats, especially families with children,” Singleton added. “We have been amazed by our community’s generosity for the last few years.”

Partner Ken Gibson said: “Last year, we were able to give 640 coats to men, women, and children in our area. Whether you have a coat you no longer wear, a child’s coat that doesn’t fit, or you want to go buy some new coats for children, we welcome your donations.”

Kristie Askew of GUEST said, “Each year, we have clients of all ages who need a winter coat. We appreciate the good work of GibsonSingleton in collecting these coats, and the generous people who donate them. Your coat can make a big difference to someone in need this winter.”

For the fifth year, GibsonSingleton Virginia Injury Attorneys partners Ken Gibson and John Singleton are working with GUEST’s Kristie Askew to get warm coats to people in need during our coat drive.

GibsonSingleton has set a goal of collecting 600 coats again this year. Singleton said, “We know that the amazing people of Virginia’s Middle Peninsula will answer the call once again.”

Gibson concluded, “Entering the holiday season, we all want to give back. Our firm wants to give back to this wonderful community where we live and work, and we hope our coat drive makes it easier for others to give back, too.”
