GibsonSingleton selects a winner for Texts=Wrecks Scholarship 2019!

By Beth Gibson on June 13, 2019

It’s June 13, 2019, and you know what that means… it’s time for our law firm to announce who won the Texts=Wrecks Scholarship 2019!

We asked for solutions to combat dangerous, drunk, and distracted driving in our lives. Since motor vehicle crashes are still the leading cause of death for teenagers in the U.S., this issue is as important now as it was decades ago. But we’re glad to say young drivers are also leading the charge to change things at the local level! Just take a look at our finalists.

Meet our “Texts=Wrecks” finalists, who are taking a stand for safety!

By Beth Gibson on May 30, 2019

Distracted driving claimed the lives of at least 6,227 pedestrians last year across the United States, and that’s not counting the number of people who were in cars. The worst part is, most of these accidents were likely due to a smartphone, which means they were 100 percent preventable!

Why John became a lawyer, and how his choice can help you

By Beth Gibson on May 18, 2019

When you become a lawyer, you hear a lot of lawyer jokes. In fact, “attorney” is probably one of the least popular professions in America. Only 18 percent of Americans feel that lawyers contribute to society, according to a Pew Research Center poll. That was down from 2009, when 23 percent did. But we’d bet that none of the people surveyed worked with GibsonSingleton Virginia Injury Attorneys.

At our law firm, you’re our neighbor, not a number.

By John Singleton on July 22, 2018

Bringing clients big city experience, small town care.

At GibsonSingleton Virginia Injury Attorneys, the relationship with our clients goes beyond the ordinary. Some personal injury law firms are settlement mills, which means they take large numbers of cases, but don’t put it in the time and effort to get to know you and the damages the injury caused you. These types of firms settle for less than top value.

Ken Gibson and I don’t work like that.

The winner of GibsonSingleton’s 2018 Texts=Wrecks scholarship is…

By Beth Gibson on July 3, 2018

We at GibsonSingleton Virginia Injury Attorneys asked a lot from our 2018 scholarship applicants: “What can you do to help combat distracted driving? What will you say when your friend starts checking text messages while driving? How are you going to take what you’ve learned so far in life to make good decisions now that you’re “in the driver’s seat” as an adult?”

The responses we received were well worth it. Students across the United States went above and beyond to give us thoughtful, insightful answers. We selected six finalists on June 14, and we moved on to the next step—selecting a winner!

These six finalists made a strong statement for GibsonSingleton’s 2018 scholarship

By Beth Gibson on June 14, 2018

It’s a fact that distracted driving is a bad idea. In our law firm’s home of Gloucester County, Virginia, we’ve seen almost 20 crashes involving “distraction” in 2018 alone. With a small population of fewer than 40,000 people in the county, that’s too many wrecks!

We at GibsonSingleton Virginia Injury Attorneys aren’t too discouraged, though. Why? Because we received more than 400 applications from students across the United States for our Texts=Wrecks scholarship! We asked: what can you do to combat distracted driving in your life, and how are you going to take what you’ve learned so far in life to make important decisions, now that you’re “in the driver’s seat” as adults?
