It takes a community to build a law firm

By Ken Gibson on June 1, 2017

Suppose you want to go to a restaurant for a night out. How do you decide which one?

You ask your friends! If this were a Geico commercial, we’d chime in “It’s what you do!”

The same thing is true when you need a lawyer. Talk to your friends and neighbors, and they’ll let you know who’s best. Like a great restaurant owner, a great lawyer is hard-working, caring and friendly, and knows the community and people around him. He also knows the law!

Community Service

At GibsonSingleton Virginia Injury Attorneys, we like to share helpful information about safety and the law with our community. Just a few weeks ago, in time for senior prom, Ken Gibson and John Singleton helped Middlesex High School stage a mock sentencing at Middlesex Courthouse. In this drama, the teen defendant was charged with felony manslaughter for an “accident” that happened while she was driving under the influence of alcohol. The sentence? Several years in state prison.

Ken Gibson acted as the prosecutor, and John Singleton played the role of the defense attorney, but they both had the same message: too often, they see the tragic results of drunk driving—and they want to make the consequences of bad choices clear. They don’t want to have teens (or you) as a client!

But serving your community means more than that. It also means having fun with your neighbors and family! We sponsored, organized, and performed at Rock ‘n Rotary to benefit local charities and help end polio throughout the world. We supported the Gloucester Educational Foundation 3K Walk & 8K Run, and we lead a coat drive each fall. If you’re on the Middle Peninsula and need a helping hand, we’re here for you!

Local Clients

Need more proof that this law firm cares about our neighbors? Ask our clients. Gary Simmons of Gloucester: “Shortly after moving to Virginia, I was in an accident, and I contacted several firms to represent me. John Singleton came highly recommended, and for good reason. John and Margaret [Singleton] treated me like I was important. They had a great deal of knowledge regarding, not only the legal aspects of my case, but they also gave me hope. They kept me informed the whole time. What a blessing they are.”

We thank our clients and our community for their support. Serving our clients and serving our community is the same thing to us. We believe that helping our friends and neighbors makes us better lawyers. We’re here when things go wrong. When things go right, we’re out there at the Daffodil Festival, at our kids’ ballgames, and at the local barbeque with our families. But if you need us in your corner, we’re here. In personal injury cases, we don’t get paid unless you get paid. Make a local call today to (804) 413-6777 for a free meeting if you have any questions.
